Cyber Engineer Specialist                                        (JAPOC0017)

Seeking a Cybersecurity team member to work in a challenging and dynamic environment that combines technical security engineering talent with business consulting skills to deliver high-value client IT security solutions.  As a Cyber Engineering Specialist, the candidate will participate in the application, system, and/or infrastructure implementation of defined information security solutions for high-visibility government engagements.  Candidates will possess hands-on experience in the system development life cycle, designing, developing, configuring, deploying, and/or troubleshooting major software applications and databases; demonstrate knowledge of the SDLC process, configuration management, and software versioning; demonstrate experience deploying and configuring a variety of hardware, software, and security products. Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge and comfort in conducting security-oriented assessments, conflict resolution and a proven ability to collaborate with team leads and clients to appropriately translate functional needs into technical security requirements. 

 

General Skills:

  • Experience as a leader of an application, network, system, and/or infrastructure engineering team

  • Possession of excellent oral communications skills and experience briefing senior level clients on technical, functional, and operational issues

  • Possession of excellent written communications skills and experience authoring network, system, and/or infrastructure documentation and client-ready deliverables

  • Experience developing client-ready technical system documentation (i.e. SRD, SDD, SSP, DTP)

  • Experience leading tasks, directing matrixed teams, & providing thought leadership to diverse teams

  • Able to conduct system, network, and/or infrastructure evaluations to determine alignment with functional and security requirements

  • Experience validating system, network, and/or infrastructure components to ensure that the appropriate security profile is maintained

  • Knowledge of major System Security Engineering Processes

 

Security Skills:

  • DOD 8570.1-approved certificate (Sec+, CISSP, CISM/CISA, CEH, etc.)

  • Experience configuring various system components, software tools, applications

  • Experience with Federal security standards (FISMA/NIST, DHS 4300) assessment, implementation, processes, and procedures

  • Experience working throughout the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (requirements, design, development, testing, implementation,…)

  • Experience with security design and engineering aspects of software application development, including access control, identity management, auditing, and software component partitioning

  • Experience supporting government certification and accreditation (C&A) activities

  • Experience in defining and enforcing information security policy

  • Knowledge of “defense-in-depth” and other information security/assurance principles and associated supporting technologies

  • Experience working with data center hosting environments and managed service providers

 

Technical Experience:

  • Experience with designing, configuring, or maintaining security postures of Federal information systems or similarly regulated system environments

  • Experience designing, implementing, and assessing security controls

  • Experience in security process, procedure, and technical implementation

  • Additional Qualifications: (Qualifications that are desired, but not required; a “nice to have.”)

  • Vendor or industry certificates, including Cisco, Microsoft, or Sun certificates

  • Experience with security Cloud Computing environments and/or technologies

  • Experience with securing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or web services

  • Experience with securing social networking and/or Web 2.0 implementation and securing

  • Experience with enterprise Single Sign-on implementation and integration  

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • BS in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of system, network, and/or infrastructure implementation, integration and deployment experience

  • 4+ years of software application development, or testing using a major development platform

  • Graduate Certificate in Computer Science or other IT related discipline

  • 1+ years of system, software, network, and/or infrastructure security experience (i.e. system hardening, network device configuration, high availability, etc.)

  • 1+ years of application, system, network, and/or infrastructure security integration
